Having been bound the entire winters, your dry neglected feet need the extra bit of attention to be flaunted during the flip flop season. Give yourself a spa-like treatment right in the comforts of your home by following these 6 easy steps for acquiring baby soft feet:
1. Soak your feet:
Fill a bowl with warm water, enough to cover your feet till ankles. Add a couple of tablespoons of bath salts, juice of a lemon, a spot of foot wash (liquid hand wash or shampoo works fine as well) and a few drops of essential oils for their soothing fragrance. Mix it all up and place smooth round pebbles at the bottom of the bowl to provide gentle massage to your over worked soles. For that extra bit of spa-like feeling, scatter rose petals in the bowl as well. Soak your feet for a good 10-15 mins for the mixture to work its magic. Gently dry them with a towel.
2. Clean your nails:
Jagged, dirty, uneven nails can ruin the appearance of the most cared for feet. So take out your nail set to trim and file your nails, buff them for added shine and push back the cuticles as they will be soft from the foot soak.
Use a foot file or pumice stone to scrub the heels, sides and ankles and employ an old toothbrush to rub the toes. These steps remove the layers of accumulated dead skin cells and also promotes better blood flow. Just make sure to not over do it or you might end up damaging the new skin cells!
Use a foot scrub or make your own, by mixing half a cup of granulated sugar with 3 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of honey, to gently massage your feet. Wash them clean and pat them dry for the final step.
Lather on a hydrating cream to nourish your skin and bring this home pedicure to a full cycle. This final step will prevent cracked heels and give you softer skin long after you are done. Finally protect your labor by wearing socks for a few hours.
6. Paint them:
Before you go out to show off your feet, don’t forget to paint your nails a bright shade!
